He is a scholar of physics, astronomy, law, and the author of the book 100 Most Influential People in History, which was published in 1978 and has been translated into a number of languages around the world. This book contains 100 figures who he felt had the greatest and most powerful influence in human history. His book is hotly debated, the concept of the book was widely imitated.
This book was reprinted in 1992 with some noticeable revisions to the order of 100 lists and their outstanding ranks. Notably among the revisions were the demotion of communist figures such as Lenin and Joseph Stalin, and the introduction of Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev. This edition also includes Edward de Vere in place of William Shakespeare. Hart replaced Niels Henrik David Bohr and Antoine Henri Becquerel with Ernest Rutherford, also correcting errors in the first edition. Henry Ford is also included here from simply "Respected Men", replacing Pablo Picasso.
